Prepare your locks One of the downsides of staying at hostels is that your privacy is not fully protected. It doesn’t mean hostels are places full of robbers and thieves. It’s just a common sense to lock up your stuffs in a place filled with many people. Most hostel assign you a locker with your bunk bed to keep your stuffs safe. However, it’s highly recommended to bring your own lock. You can pack a little combination lock and lock it around your pack on train, bus, or hostel room. Use kitchen with the right etiquette Most hostels have kitchen that everyone can use to cook or prepare their own meals. Some people also keep their foods in public fridge as it it the communal food supply. Buy your own foods and if you want to keep them in communal kitchen, label them. Don’t take anything that’s not yours and use the kitchen considerably. Clean up after yourself and if you have foods or other stuffs to leave behind, label them with ‘communal or up for grabs’ so anyone can have them. How to use bathroom? Most hostels usually have bathrooms that pretty similar to college dormitory bathrooms. There are shower stalls, stalled toilets, and outlets by the sinks. You don’t have to worry about the bathrooms because most hostels have clean bathroom as they clean it regularly.
